Piano Removal Isn't DIY

An average upright piano weighs 200–300kg. Getting it wrong means damage to your floors, walls, doors — and potential injury. Our team has the right equipment and experience:

  • Appropriate moving dollies and handling equipment used throughout
  • Specialist piano dollies and straps
  • Experienced at navigating stairs, narrow hallways and tight access
  • Team size selected to suit the piano, weight, access and complexity of each job
  • Fully insured — covering any accidental damage

Responsible Disposal

We never just skip a piano. Wherever possible:

  • Playable pianos may be rehomed through local community contacts where practical
  • Parts salvaged — keys, frames and strings recycled
  • Electronic components disposed of through appropriate recycling and recovery routes
  • Digital Waste Transfer Note provided after your completed collection

Piano Removal FAQs

How much does piano removal cost in Birmingham and the West Midlands?

Piano removal typically costs between £120–£250 depending on the type of piano, access and whether stairs are involved. Call us on 07776 332 447 for a fixed quote.

Can you remove a piano from upstairs?

Yes. This is a common request and our team is well-practised at safely negotiating stairs with pianos. We use protective equipment throughout to avoid any damage.

Do I need to do anything to prepare?

Just make sure there's a clear path from the piano to the exit. We'll handle everything else, including protecting your flooring and door frames.

Can my piano be rehomed rather than disposed of?

If your piano is still playable, let us know when requesting your quote. Where practical, we may be able to explore whether it can be rehomed through local community contacts before disposal. Please note that our standard removal charge still applies — the removal service is not free. We would not add an extra fee simply for exploring a suitable rehoming option.

How long does piano removal take?

Most upright piano removals take 1–2 hours. Grand pianos may take longer due to the disassembly required. We'll give you a time estimate when you book.
